Today I experienced racism again. And when I say again I mean this is not my first racist incident and it will not be my last.

Being Black in America means navigating racism in real time. Microaggressions. Stereotypes. Subtle disrespect. Loud ignorance. All of it. But what really gets me is how some people will let their own racism ruin their entire day. Like imagine waking up choosing to be prejudice and then being mad because I exist confidently as a Black woman. A plus size Black woman. An Afro Latina. A content creator. A business owner. A wife. A mother. A woman who loves her body and takes up space anyway.

That level of dedication to hate has to be exhausting.

Meanwhile I’m over here building community, building generational wealth, building confidence in young girls, building platforms for women, and minding my business. Now I know there are people that deny racism, but anti Blackness is not new, and yes, we still experience discrimination in 2026.

Starting over in the gym is its own kind of grief, and yet no one really talks about how it feels like a loss.. The loss of your strength, your momentum, and most importantly, the loss of who you used to be in the gym.

Life happens, and sometimes it happens hard and fast. And while we don’t always get to choose when it hits, we do get to choose what we do next.

Going from squatting almost 300 lbs to struggling with 100 lbs hurts. I’ve cried like a baby about it, I’ve yelled and screamed, and I’ve felt that sting of “damn… I used to be stronger than this.” But then I remember that If I’ve done it once, I can do it again.

For anyone who’s starting over in the gym, in life, in whatever you have going on, just know that you’re not alone, and you are not weak. You’re rebuilding. And that takes a different kind of strength.

Listen, y’all already know that I love love love my matchas, and yes I love them sweet. But I’ve been making little swaps that feel GOOD and still taste bomb.

Instead of my usual large matcha with cold foam + brown sugar syrup, I’m now grabbing a medium with just cold foam, and saying “AHT AHT” to those extra pumps of syrups. Eventually we’re working our way to a small, but baby steps 🫶🏽✨

It’s the little changes that make the biggest impact on your health, your goals, and your energy. You don’t have to be perfect to be healthier, you just have to be more consistent and mindful.

After a few weeks of lifting heavy and run training, I decided it was a good time to use my rest day to go relax at @haloheat_sauna

Not only did they walk me through all of their saunas and light therapy options, but they made sure I was well taken care of and had everything I needed. I also learned that their owners grow and create all the tea blends that they provide in studio, along with their own sugar cubes. Now if that doesn’t show you that they are all about their customers and community, then I don’t know what to tell you.

All in all it was such an amazing experience and I will 100% be back!

Pregnancy should be a beautiful occasion, and a time for women to be full of joy, love, and pride. But for many women around the world, its a time full of fear, anxiety, and deep pain. Did you know that 1-5% of women experience consecutive pregnancy losses? And I am part of that statistic.

I have been pregnant six times, and my sweet BabyBear is my only surviving child. That kind of loss changes you from the inside out, and it’s a pain I would never wish on anyone.

For so long I carried the silence and shame that often surround miscarriage. The shame of being seen as less of a woman, the shame of feeling like my body had failed me, and the shame of believing I am letting my husband down. It’s a quiet grief that tends to sit deep in your soul.

But this October, this National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month I choose to let go of that shame and choosing to live, honor, and remember every single baby I carried, even if I never got to hold them in my arms.

When @ashleyinthemiddleofitall told me she wanted to start running and training for a marathon, I was so excited because I knew this was the push I needed to get back into something I’ve always loved, especially after having a baby. So we laced up our running shoes and went for the @bucktown5k together last week, and I couldn’t have asked for a better running partner than my big sis 🫶🏽

Throughout the race, I kept repeating the running mantra that’s carried me through countless 5ks and half marathons; “Their run is not my run. My run is not their run. But we run the same mile.” It’s my reminder that comparison steals joy, and that we don’t need to measure our pace, our speed, or our progress against anyone else, because at the end of the day we’re all running the same distance in our own way 🏃🏽‍♀️💛

My husband has been telling me for years that I need to go buy some new glasses after breaking mine 5 years ago 😬… So, I decided that for one of my birthday presents since he wanted me to get glasses so bad that he could take me and buy them for me, and that’s exactly what he did.

I was honestly so worried about getting glasses because prescription is so high I could probably start a forest fire with my new glasses, but I knew it was time. Not only were the staff super sweet and helpful, but the doctor was so great to talk with, we probably spent more time talking about our kids and family than we did the actual appointment 😆

My lenses arrive in 2 weeks and I cannot wait to show you all what we chose!

Living in a construction zone with no kitchen means LOTS of outdoor dinners lately.

Honestly, I’m so grateful it’s summertime because it makes cooking outside feel less like I’m in survival mode, and more like an intentional vibe. We can put the put the baby to bed, throw on some Motown, pour a glass of wine, and fire up the grill for some good BBQ.

This definitely isn’t how I pictured this season of life going, but sometimes things don’t go the way we plan, and all we can do is lean in, make the best of it, and find little moments of joy where we can. So that’s what I’m doing, trying to make happy memories and focusing on what I can control.

8 1/2 months. 37 weeks. 260 Days.

Becoming a NICU parent is something no one prepares you for. My son spent more than half his life the NICU, and those months were some of the hardest days I’ve ever endured. The constant alarms, the endless surgeries and procedures, the poking and prodding, the waiting and the uncertainty can be pretty isolating, exhausting, and emotionally draining.

One thing that truly helped were when we would walk into the room and someone had dropped off a new book, or blanket, or cute little goodie baskets. They were just these small gestures but they made a world of difference not just for Milo, but for me. They reminded me that I wasn’t alone, that people cared, and that I had a community behind me, a community of people I had never even met before.

Parents and caregivers in the NICU are going through an emotional rollercoaster, and they need support just as much as their amazing warriors, because their journeys are mental and emotional.

I’ve thought about so many ways I that I can help these families, that I can help bring a little smile to their faces, and it’s why I’m happy to announce I’ve created a new platform, Hope in Every Package where we will be fundraising and creating care packages for NICU babies and their families, across Chicago, the state of Illinois, and eventually Puerto Rico. Each package will include essentials for babies, comfort items for parents, and mental health resources to help them through this journey.

💜 Our goal for Hope in Every Package is to raise $5000 to bring these care items to as many families as possible. If you’re able, please consider donating, because every dollar helps us support these warriors and their families/caregivers.

Today is a bittersweet moving day.

Moves can be so stressful and full of anxiety and worries, but there’s an added layer of grief for me in this move. I’m saying goodbye to the apartment I started over in after my first marriage ended, this is where I found myself again, the place my now husband and I made our first home and brought our BabyBear into. His home has 8 years worth of happiness and memories.

And now I say goodbye as we make the trek to the burbs. Suburban living was never on my bingo card, so it’s bittersweet to realize I won’t be living the city that raised me.

Not everything goes as planned, but we have to learn to be ok and make the best of it (easier said than done), and that includes moving into a home under construction and with no kitchen 😭

So here’s to a new chapter and new memories in a new home.
